I had been looking for a low mileage 2003 Windstar for months to replace my high mileage 2000 Windstar. 2003 was the last year Ford produced this model. While surfing the internet recently I came across one offered by Scott Select of West Chester PA. I contacted Scott Select and spoke with George Sheppard. He told me he would check the van out and call me back. A short time later I received a call back from George saying the van was exceptionally nice, had a excellent service record, but had a few scratches. I can deal with a few scratches so I gave George a deposit which was refundable if when I got there I didn't like what I saw. A couple days later my wife and I drove the 700 miles from Hudsonville MI. to Scott Select in West Chester PA. I test drove the van and noticed the ABS system was not working. When I got back from the test drive George had their service department look into the problem. They immediately got on it and a short time later their service manager came out and informed me they were going to change the axle and the van would be ready in 45 minutes. The entire transaction went very smooth. I was offered a thousand for my old van with 243,000 miles on it which clinched the deal. The van came with a 6000 mile or six month warranty which ever came first. I now have put 1500 miles on the van and it runs great! It's loaded with every option offered at the time. I couldn't be more pleased with the whole transaction. Now I suppose your wondering why anyone would drive 700 miles to buy a used van. For starters there are not many vehicles that are ten years old with low mileage out there. But more importantly the van is used for service work. I have a parts ben that bolts down on the mounts where the rear bench seats usually sets. If I had bought a different model I would have had to redesign the mounting structure.
