The 2007 Ford Edge is based on the Fusion, and it offers many qualities folks look for in their family transportation. Seating for five, air bags all around, roll stability control, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, a 60/40 split rear seat, and a CD player with an audio input jack are all standard. The SEL and SEL PLUS trims add items such as leather seating, auto-dimming mirrors, a six-disc CD changer, and dual zone electronic climate control for added luxury. Cargo space measures at 70 cubic feet with the rear seat folded, and 32 cubic feet behind the rear seat. Optional all-wheel drive offers extra peace of mind. Under the hood is a new 3.5L V6 engine equipped with double overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder, and it produces 265 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. This allows the Edge to skip up to 60 mph in only 7.6 seconds. And unlike a lot of the competition, the Edge has a six-speed automatic transmission. The crossover wears bold styling and rides on a stiff unibody chassis with a suspension tuned for a remarkably smooth ride. Plenty of sound deadening materials keeps the ride quiet. Sirius satellite radio, a rear entertainment system, a remote rear seat release, and a tow package that allows the Edge to haul a 3,500-pound trailer make this vehicle even more family friendly. A reverse sensing system, heated seats, and a large panoramic vista sunroof are other notable options.
